Karachi Traffic Police Slaps Juvenile Drivers With Rs. 28.1 Million Fines

The Karachi Traffic Police (KTP) has imposed fines worth Rs. 28.1 million on underage drivers and their parents or vehicle owners since the start of September.

The development is a part of an ongoing crackdown by the KTP launched on 1 September against juvenile drivers and those responsible for allowing them to drive. The campaign was started on the directives of the Sindh High Court.

While addressing a press conference in Karachi, SSP Traffic City Ahmed Baig said that tickets worth Rs. 28.1 million were issued to more than 25,800 underage drivers and over 15,100 parents or vehicle owners.

Fines worth Rs. 13 million were slapped on 25,867 juvenile drivers while 15,128 parents or vehicle owners were issued tickets worth Rs. 15.1 million.

Besides, the KTP also confiscated 24,553 vehicles during the ongoing campaign against underage drivers and their parents or vehicle owners.

The SSP Traffic also directed the officers of KTP to continue the campaign against juvenile drivers with the same energy.
